About RPAC

What is RPAC?

Formed in 1970, the Illinois Realtors® Political Action Committee (RPAC) is a voluntary, non-profit, non-partisan organization of real estate professionals. Our purpose is to provide financial assistance to the election campaigns of qualified candidates who support private property rights. Funding comes from voluntary contributions made by Realtors®, affiliates, and other members.

Where does RPAC money go?

Pursuant to a cooperative agreement, 30% of personal contributions are sent to NAR for support of federal candidates and for issues advocacy; the remainder goes to IAR for state and local candidates and elections. In addition, 25% of the amount that a local Board/Association exceeds its fundraising base can be used by that Board/Association for various political involvement activities, subject to approval of the RPAC Trustees.

How much should I contribute to RPAC?

Because of the size of our organization, a suggested contribution of only $60 a year for an agent and $110 for brokers to fund activities of RPAC. The Illinois Association of Realtors® suggests that the requested contribution appear on members annual dues billing for a convenient way to support the critical efforts of RPAC.

I already pay Association dues. Isn't that enough?

Federal law and most state laws prohibit the use of dues money for making campaign contributions to candidates. RPAC funds must be raised for contributions to candidates.

Why do I need RPAC?

RPAC gives you the opportunity to have a collective, statewide and nationwide impact on the election of officials who shape legislation affecting our lives and the way real estate professionals do business.

Who decides which candidates receive RPAC support?

Most important is that Realtors® contribute money and Realtors®, serving as RPAC Trustees, determine who will receive support.

Additionally RANWC has their own PAC which provides financial assistance to local municipal & county candidates who support private property rights.
